RESTAURANT

Our clients, a group of industry experts with in-depth knowledge of the Quick Service Restaurant (QSR) landscape, approached Stitchcode with a collective vision to transform the drive-thru experience. Their goal was to develop an innovative solution that would empower restaurants to know and understand their customers, including their preferences, habits, and ordering history. The primary objective was to implement an AI-driven system capable of streamlining order and payment processes, introducing effective reward programs, and ultimately delivering an unparalleled customer experience.

The project commenced with collaborative user requirement gathering workshops, where we meticulously defined the overarching project objectives. These sessions allowed us to delve into the expected features, epics, and user stories that would shape our comprehensive solution. Leveraging the clients' existing market research, which identified competitors and highlighted gaps in the existing offerings, we aimed to carve out a unique value proposition for our solution.

Problem Definition, Research, and High-Level Requirement Gathering

Our journey into developing a complete solution involved extensive research into customer identification technologies.

Our journey into developing a complete solution involved extensive research into customer identification technologies. We explored and tested various options, including Bluetooth devices, Automatic Number Plate Recognition (ANPR) cameras, and Radar devices.

The chosen approach involved using Bluetooth devices to recognize registered customers' mobile devices upon entering the drive-thru premises. Simultaneously, ANPR cameras would read vehicle license plates, matching them with the system's database or identifying new customers. Radar devices were employed to detect vehicle presence at key windows, optimizing the order, payment, and pickup processes.

In a strategic decision to ensure scalability and maintainability, we opted to build the entire system on AWS infrastructure, aligning with industry best practices.

Post-research, the product vision and scope were clarified, leading to the definition of a comprehensive solution. Stitchcode's team developed the software integration for multiple components, seamlessly incorporating Bluetooth devices, License Plate Recognition (LPR) cameras, and a centralized system to process customer data.

Agile Development Cycles, Design,
User Testing, and Feedback

Prioritizing key epics, we adopted an Agile development approach, delivering incremental updates in sprints. The solution was deployed at test sites in the US as a proof of concept (POC), allowing for real-world user testing and invaluable feedback. This iterative process enabled us to fine-tune features, enhance user experiences, and address any unforeseen challenges.

Each brand is experiencing significant value through improved queue management and deeper user insights.

With successful POC implementations, the solution has been deployed and tested across five drive-thru sites in the US. Each brand is experiencing significant value through improved queue management and deeper user insights. The ongoing commitment to continuous improvement is a testament to our collaborative approach, where Stitchcode relies on the client's product owner role to identify priorities. As we actively enhance the solution, we look forward to a continued partnership that leverages shared expertise, ensuring the product's evolution aligns seamlessly with the diverse landscape of drive-thru operations by the end of 2024.
